OFFERING RESPITE WORK rather than long term placement for foreseeable. I have 35 yrs plus experience in caring for people with different needs, in a variety of settings. I am looking for respite care opportunities covering carers breaks or extra care support needed as a transition from hospital back home. I also enjoy supporting people who need some support to live an independent, full and rich life. Also available for palliative care support. My experience started out as a live-in carer for a spinal injury care company. I also worked for a care agency, where I cared for a girl with disabilities, there was always 2 carers in this role and we took her to school, administered medication and checked blood and ketone levels. Within this agency, I covered many different care homes and agencies across Bristol. I also supported 2 ladies privately, both had a spinal injury, where I supported with personal care, using a catheter, cooking and a lot of driving. I like driving and I am a very careful driver, I can drive an automatic and a manual car. My preference is home care as I love seeing people so relaxed in their own home. I am also a complementary therapist, so naturally, I am a gentle caring person. I love working with all ages, but particularly fond of the elderly. I used to go into a few care homes in Bristol and offer mini treatments, this is at a dementia home and one of my friends who is like a grandma had dementia. I am a fantastic listener too! I am now back living in Dorset and looking forward to caring for people that need support in this area. I have also worked in a residential care home for for two years which has given me experience in more advanced dementia as well. I work only with the elderly and love giving them companionship, taking them out and making their lonely days more enjoyable. I help with all the basic light household duties and personal care where necessary, I have a carer certificate and L2 & L3 equivalent to NVQ’s in Dementia care. Dementia is a devastating diagnosis for any family to receive and I specialise in this area. I am happy to do respite for a few hours in a day if family carer needs a respite so they can have that much needed break to relax or go shopping. I am happy to work with pets in the household and travel within a radius of about 10 miles. I am also fully computer literate if needed. I started working in the community, doing home care, and afters I worked for a Rapid Response Rehab team-NHS. I have been working with adults with learning disabilities for over 5 years and I am also doing agency work. This gave me the opportunity to go to a lot of different places like care homes, hospitals, hospices. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people with very different conditions and needs, and also different ages from 12 years old to 105 years old. I consider myself a confident carer. I am very attentive to details, don't like jobs half done. I am driven and would like to think I am always doing the best that I can to look after people and make sure they are well looked after, safe and happy. I enjoy making a difference in their lives.
