I was the companion and sole Carer to a 92 year old lady with extensive physical disabilities and changing mental ability through two national Covid lockdowns. After released from a three week hospital stay during the second lockdown I nursed her and took responsibility for her physiotherapy. Under my care physiotherapists said I was more beneficial to her recovery than their occasional visits. The area Occupation therapist has praised my abilities as a Carer, motivator and companion under extremely trying conditions. I bring empathy and the ability to motivate people. The family have provided me with a reference which I would happily pass on to future Clients. I have managed daily finances, household maintenance, correspondence and medical issues. In the later stages this involved hoisting and catheter care. I work closely with the family and Client and want to give people the best chance at a quality of life. I love to craft and read and encourage as much independence as possible. 0 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

I have over two years experience as a carer/live-in carer. Recently I looked after a 91 year old man with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's and dementia. Specifically: I drew up, reviewed and adjusted his care plan to ensure he had the best of care at all times. I was attentive to his needs and very patient as his thinking and verbal skills were affected. He was non verbal but did communicate clearly from time to time. I prompted him to swallow and was patient as often it would take 30 minutes or more to feed him. I spoke to him clearly and slowing using very few words so he could understand what was happening. I learnt his signals for when he wanted a drink, needed personal care, sleep and rest. I made sure he was in a comfortable environment at all times. Initially he had some limited mobility and could walk short distances with support. In time I arranged with the occupational therapist for him to have a hoist. This helped with transfers from bed to commode and commode to chair for his morning routine and with transfers for his bedtime routine. I supported him with feeding, personal care including showering, dressing and grooming. I carried out a range of housekeeping tasks like cleaning, washing, laundry, cooking and preparing his meals, administering and ordering his medication, arranging doctors' appointments and medical checks. The feedback from the family was that I provided outstanding care. My hobbies are cooking, reading and writing. I look forward to meeting you and discussing with you how I can help deliver exceptional care for your loved one/s. {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":"0","field_care_type_first":"0","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":"0","field_care_type_second":"0","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":"0","field_care_type_third":"0","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":"0","field_care_type_fourth":"0","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":"0","field_care_type_fifth":"0","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":"0","field_care_type_sixth":"0","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":"0","field_care_type_seven":"0"}
