Not having any grandparents I was drawn to older people as a child and would visit older neighbours and help with ironing, tidying around and filling out forms. I was always fascinated by their early life experiences and loved hearing their stories. On leaving school I went into farming, then to University to study Countryside Management, after which I took a few years out to volunteer in my home town, training as an advisor at my local Citizens' Advice Bureau and with the WRVS delivering Meals On Wheels. I was her sole advocate, had Power of Attorney for both financial and health & welfare, and managed her personal affairs as well as her care. I enjoy cleaning, organising, cooking and helping people to get the very most out of life in a limiting situation... I have seen both sides of caring: as both a carer and a broker of care packages. I care about timekeeping, doing things properly and providing added value.
